No matter if you have a swanky game area that needs a revamp or are simply looking to make your family get-togethers more exciting, it goes without saying that a pool table is a great investment. Billiards or pool is one of the most popular and fun games that transcend cultural barriers and age differences. It can be enjoyed by everyone. Additionally, a pool table can not only enhance the value of your home but also give countless hours of pure joy to you, your family as well as friends. Although, with this promise of unadulterated entertainment comes the daunting task of actually choosing a table for your home. While the idea might seem daunting, it doesn’t actually have to be so. The most important aspect you need to consider is the size of the table. And how do you do that? By keeping in mind two very crucial things.
Size of the room
A pool table should, without a doubt, fit comfortably in the game room or basement or whichever room you want to put it in. There must be an adequate area around the table for all players to move around, position themselves and take a shot. Most commonly, classic pool tables are 7 ft. (3.5’ x 7’) and they require a room to be at least 13’ x 16’ for the ideal fit. For 8 ft. tables (4’ x 8’), you need your room to be 13’ x 17’, and for a 9 ft. table (4.5’ x 9’), the room must be at least 13’ x 17’.
Size of the cue stick
The table you pick must be suitable for the size of your cue sticks as well. While standard cue sticks are around 57 inches (one-piece) or 50 inches (two pieces), they come in varying sizes. For instance, children and people whose heights are below-average can use shorter cue sticks, and taller people (over 6’5”) can choose longer cue sticks.
